Altman Solon, the largest global strategy consulting firm focused exclusively on the Telecommunications, Media, and Technology (TMT) sectors, has promoted media and tech expert Dr. Christoph Sommer to Director in its Zurich office.
“Since joining the firm in 2016 in Munich – and later by taking on a key role in establishing our Zurich office – Christoph’s expertise in media and tech has helped Altman Solon service and add clients in key areas of growth,” said Altman Solon Managing Partner Patrick Bellenbaum. “We are very pleased to welcome him to our global leadership team.”
At Altman Solon, Christoph Sommer focuses on strategy, growth, business planning, product development, go-to-market, (re-)organization and operating model design, as well as due diligence and value creation. He also supports clients on the implementation of the firm’s recommendations to ensure tangible results. He works with clients in media, digital, sports, software, and IT services, as well as investors targeting these areas.
Christoph Sommer also co-leads the development and implementation of Altman Solon’s Global Sports Survey. It offers insights and perspectives on sports viewership and fandom, viewing experiences, and emerging digital technologies from more than 17,000 respondents across 17 countries for sports properties such as teams or leagues, buyers of sports rights, and investors.
Before joining Altman Solon, Christoph Sommer was a researcher in media management at the University of Zurich, and worked in advertising, broadcasting, and publishing.
He earned a PhD in Media Management from the University of Zurich, and three degrees – an MA in Media Studies, a BSc in Sports Management, and a BA in Media Studies – from the University of Vienna.
